Whiplash reforms update 2025
There has been a 15% increase in the tariffs award for whiplash injuries effective from 31st May 2025. The whiplash reforms were introduced in England and Wales in May 2021 and resulting in a vast change to the legal landscape for whiplash injuries and their quantification . The refroms introduced a fixed tariff scheme for whiplash injury compensation based on whiplash injuries up to a duration of to 2 years. From 31st May 2025, where a cause of action accrues on on before this date a new tariff will apply which sees a 15% increase in comparison to earlier provisions in line with inflation. Liability Dispute Ends in £16,000 Court Victory
The Third party insurers continued to deny liability throughout the claim. We supported our client, gathering evidence and commencing court proceedings which progressed all the way to a trial. The trial was successful and the Judge awarded us over £16,000 in compensation and costs for our Client. Mrs X was in her vehicle which was parked on her driveway when a third party started to reverse. The third party failed to see Mrs X and continued reversing into a collision causing Mrs X injuries. The insurers for the at fault driver claimed Mrs X could not have been injured in the collision and so denied liability for her injuries. Our teams worked diligently and gathered multiple pieces of evidence to support the case and challenge the opponents assertions which ultimately resulted in provding Mrs X’s credibility and injuries at trial. The result was a succesful outcome for Mrs X with the Judge awarding over £16,000 in costs and compensation for Mrs X, who could finally put the accident behind her and move forward with her life.
